Celebration to honor, raise money for
BackStoppers, Inc.
On July 8, 2016, the Ballwin community
was impacted by the catastrophic
injury sustained by Ballwin Police Officer
Michael Flamion, while conducting a
traffic stop on New Ballwin Road. In the
aftermath of that incident, BackStoppers,
Inc. was there to provide financial support
to the Flamion family.
BackStoppers, Inc. was started in 1959.
Today, the nonprofit organization serves
a total of 13 counties in Missouri and
five counties in Illinois. Since its inception,
it has taken care of 160 families of
first responders, including providing catastrophic
injury relief.
Currently, BackStoppers, Inc. is caring
for 81 families with 66 dependent children,
equating to a total annual financial commitment
of approximately $1.3 million.
BackStoppers, Inc. was here for Ballwin
when one of the city’s finest needed the
organization’s support. Now, the Ballwin
Days committee wants to recognize and
support the organization’s efforts.
On Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June
10, Ballwin Days will honor BackStoppers,
Celebrate 40 years of memories
at Ballwin Days parade
The Ballwin Days Parade, a festival
favorite since 1978, celebrates 40 years of
memories on Saturday, June 10, with the
theme of “40 Years and Going Strong.”
The parade rolls out at 9 a.m. on Steamboat
Lane adjacent to The Rock Church in
Ballwin [formerly Ballwin Baptist Church].
It proceeds north to Kehrs Mill Road then
turns east into Vlasis Park. The parade
ends on Park Drive near the Ballwin police
station.
Watch for the special parade marshals,
who have made Ballwin Days the great

Inc. for its dedication to first responders in
the St. Louis region.
There will be one ceremony each night,
commencing at approximately 8:45 p.m.,
just prior to the fireworks display. In
addition to BackStoppers, Inc., Ballwin
Days also will be recognizing and saluting
local first responders along with the
Ballwin VFW and the Army National
Guard.
Festival-goers are encouraged to stop by
the BackStoppers, Inc. booth on the fairgrounds
during Ballwin Days to learn more
about the organization and to say “thanks.”

The second annual Ballwin Days Pancake
Breakfast will be on Saturday morning
from 7-11 a.m. at Salem in Ballwin
United Methodist Church. Proceeds benefit
the Boy Scouts. Tickets may be purchased
at the door on Saturday morning. Stop by
before or after the parade to enjoy a great
breakfast for a great cause.
