Picture Perfect<br />
We caught up with photographer, Beth Moseley,<br />
who is new to the floral town of Bury St Edmunds<br />
TELL US A LITTLE MORE ABOUT YOUR<br />
CAREER IN PHOTOGRAPHY TO DATE.<br />
I’ve worked as a photographer since 2010,<br />
but the passion goes back much further. As<br />
a teenager, I’d always take my old Olympus<br />
OM10 with a makeshift backdrop to any<br />
parties or gatherings with friends. I moved to<br />
New York in 1999 and took my Canon 300d<br />
to capture portraits of strangers in this new<br />
city. I loved these interactions and realised<br />
photography was my calling. As my friends<br />
and siblings all started getting married and<br />
having children, I soon became the unofficial<br />
wedding and family photographer. I loved it!<br />
I then decided to turn this passion into a full<br />
time business. It’s such a privilege to share the<br />
joy and love of special family events. I truly love<br />
my job!<br />
HOW WOULD YOU BEST<br />
DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY<br />
STYLE?<br />
Whether it’s couples, families, christenings<br />
or weddings, my favourite clients have an<br />
appetite for something a bit different. I do<br />
natural, relaxed, reportage photography. For<br />
me it’s the love and emotion of an occasion<br />
that I love capturing. I strive to create<br />
images which stand out from all the other<br />
photographers... something that I would be<br />
proud to hang on my own wall.<br />
I love the golden hour, playing with shadows<br />
and light and bold colours. A big part of my<br />
job is looking for the perfect location for<br />
a photograph, whether that be the cute<br />
doorway, the amazing stairwell or the floor tiles<br />
that you’d never spotted before.<br />
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT<br />
PHOTOGRAPHY?<br />
I really enjoy meeting and finding out about<br />
people. Photography has enabled me to do<br />
that. I always get invited to happy occasions<br />
and get a front row seat. I love that my work<br />
is treasured and forms a record of such<br />
special moments in people’s lives that future<br />
generations will look back on years to come<br />
and enjoy.<br />
WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR SOURCING<br />
A PHOTOGRAPHER?<br />
Find someone you click with. Obviously, you<br />
need to love their work and the price has to<br />
fit your budget, but I always think if you feel<br />
comfortable with your photographer they will<br />
get the best out of you. Personally, I can feel a<br />
little uncomfortable having my photo taken so<br />
I understand how scary it can feel. It’s because<br />
of this, that I work so hard to put my clients<br />
at ease. Feeling relaxed and enjoying yourself<br />
makes for fantastic photographs. This is my<br />
biggest mission and the secret to amazing<br />
photographs.<br />
