Whilst it may not seem it, now is the ideal time to be
thinking about installing a new fireplace ahead of winter
Now as much as we hate to talk about the cold
weather long before it arrives, Ivett & Reed
have got us thinking already with their stunning
range of fireplaces. We caught up with James
Hilton, Business Development Manager at the
long-established Cambridge firm, to hear a
little more about what’s on offer.
Having been in the business for over 120
years, Ivett & Reed really know their stuff
when it comes to stonemasonry. They’re
one of the region’s leading retailers when it
comes to manufacturing and installing stone
fireplaces and have all types of appliances to
accompany them, from wood burning and
multi-fuel stoves to gas and electric fires. With
leading brands such as Clearview, Jotul, Gazco,
Stovax and Bellfires offering products to suit a
wide range of properties and budgets, how do
you decide which is best?
“When choosing a new fireplace it’s important
to consider style and convenience. Trends
change year upon year but so far this year we
have seen a significant growth in the sale of
gas fireplaces,” says James. “This is because
Gazco Reflex 75T Edge with Sandringham
homeowners are recognising their ease of
use and are also taking advantage of the high
efficiency appliances on the market currently.”
While contemporary hole-in-the-wall style
installations remain popular, it appears many of
Ivett & Reed’s customers are choosing to set
their gas fire into a stone fireplace. “This makes
a ‘modern classic’ focal point, whilst also adding
significant aesthetic and financial value to their
property,” James adds.
“The past 12 months have seen gas fire
technology continue to develop at a fast pace,
with products such as the Gazco Reflex 75T
and Bellfires Smart Bell featuring ultra-realistic
log effects, double burners, LED electric
lighting under the fuel bed and advanced
remote control handsets. Another popular
addition to our showroom has been the Jotul
GF 373, which is a contemporary balanced
flue gas stove - ideal for properties without an
existing chimney,” says James when we asked
about the previous few months’ sales.
In addition to this, Ivett & Reed continue to
offer an extensive selection of wood burning
appliances. “Currently we are installing the
Stuv 22-70 into our Cambridge showroom.
It’s an exciting new high end built-in stove
featuring a guillotine door and a heat output
ranging from a manageable 4kW up to an
impressive 11kW, enough to heat most large
living spaces,” he mentions.
If you’re looking for a more cost-effective
solution in a new or existing fireplace there are
a range of new inset electric fire ranges which
have realistic LED flame effects.
“My top pick would be the Gazco Logic2,”
adds James.
Pop in to their Cambridge showroom to take a
look for yourself. So before the weather does
turn cold… why not think ahead!
