HISTORY OF ROLLS-ROYCE— THE ALPINE TRAIL<br />
In 1912, <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> entered the<br />
Alpine Trial race, but the car did not<br />
complete the trial. During the next<br />
year, <strong>Royce</strong> and his team diligently<br />
went about building a vehicle that<br />
would survive the terrain, with<br />
speed and a smooth ride for the<br />
next year’s competition.<br />
During 1913 Alpine Trail,<br />
<strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> successfully completed<br />
the Trail and seemed to<br />
have surpassed anyone’s expectations.<br />
Charles Freeson wrote in<br />
Autocar:<br />
“The <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong>s came past<br />
in great style, and I am bound<br />
to say that I have never seen<br />
anything more beautiful in the<br />
way of locomotion than the<br />
way in which they flew past…<br />

Trail and the Spanish Grand Prix,<br />
<strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> brand ’s reputation<br />
