KNSS Foundation Day 8th June 1982 Down the Memory Lane During the year 1979 an Association, known as Bangalore Nairs’ Association (BNA) was formed and registered at Mathikere with the aim of bringing together the Nair community in Bangalore and also for rendering services in Social, Cultural and Educational fields to them. At that time two more Nair associations were formed at Dooravani Nagar and Indiranagar. Dooravani Nagar Nair Welfare Association and Indra Nagar Nair Samajam. In 1982, Dooravani Nagar Nair Welfare Association proposed to bring all the three Associations under one banner. Other two Associations also accepted the proposal and all the three Associations got amalgamated and formed Karnataka Nair Service Society. The Society was registered on 8th June 1982 and formally inaugurated on 16th June 1982 at Puttanna Chetty Town Hall, by Sri. Panampally RaghavaMenon. The function was presided over by Sri. Kidangoor Gopala Krishna Pillai and the then Hon. Minister of finance, Govt. of Karnataka, Sri Veerappa Moily was the Chief Guest. Prominent among others who participated in the inaugural function include the then Hon. Minister for Public Health, Govt. of Kerala, Sri. Treasurer (Dooravani Nagar) After the formation of KNSS, the fourth Karayogam Inaugurated was Malleswaram, sponsored by Mathikere Karayogam in the year 1983. Malleswaram Karayogam Sponsored Rajaji Nagar Karayogam in the year 1984. Same Year Mathikere Karayogam sponsored Jayamahal Karayogam also. Thus by the end of the year 1984 number of Karayogams was 6. DISTINGUISHED PERSONalITIES Dr T P Sreenivasan bestowed with ‘Nada Prabhu Kempa Gowda International Award’ In a glittering ceremony, Dr T P Sreenivasan was presented with ‘Nada Prabhu Kempa Gowda International Award’ instituted by Vokkaliggara Directory Trust, Bangalore on 4th may 2017 in consideration of his distinguished service to the nation. Dr Sreenivasan is the first Malayali recipient of this prestigious award instituted by Vokkaliggara Sangha which closely identifies as the equivalent community to the Nair community of Kerala. Dr. Sreenivasan became one of the youngest Foreign Service Officer who joined the 1967 batch IFS and served in various capacities during his 37 years of Foreign Service. He was the Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Geneva, Governor, International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy, Washington, Indian High Commissioner to Kenya, Fiji, Ambassador of India to the United Nations, New York. He retired from Indian Foreign Service on 30th June, 2004 It is worthmentioning that Dr Sreenivasan is the Chairman, Academic Council & Director, N S S Academy of Civil Services and Vice Chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council. Born to Shri K Parameswaran Pillai, a school teacher and Smt N Chellamma, on June 17, 1944 at Kayamkulam, Dr Sreenivasan completed his Master’s Degree in English from University College, Thiruvanathapuram. A writer par excellence and a serious commentator on International Relations, Dr Sreenivasan is recognised world over as an authority in this field. Auditing of Society’s accounts by the Department of Cooperative Societies, Govt. of Karnataka is nearing completion. It is a matter of pride for us that the society has leaped much forward in financial results, recording a profit of Rs 19.2 lakhs as against the previous years 12.13 lakhs which is 60% leap over the previous year. This exalting result was possible due to the co-operation from share holders, transparency in our functioning and able guidance by the Directors. We hope to call for the Annual General Body meeting of the Society during August / September 2017. We request honourable members to attend the General Body actively.
