EDITOR’S CHOICE
The security industry is busy and complex, so it’s easy to miss
new products and services as they get lost in day-to-day
activities. Every now and again, certain products grab our
attention so here we take a look at some of the products we
think you won’t want to miss this month.
IP intercom for integration
Panasonic has launched a new IP video intercom
system aimed at meeting the demand for
integration between different building systems.
The VL-VN1900 works with a range of devices,
including networked CCTV cameras, SIP phones
and network video recorders.
Using PoE the system can be connected using
a single cable, reducing installation complexity
and cost. The system supports up to 2,000 SIP
devices using standard PoE, with the addition of a
control box.
The IP video intercom system includes new door
and lobby stations, with a wide angle camera and
RFID reader for entry cards, supporting for up to
five cards per resident. Reception mode also gives
the option for incoming calls to go to reception
rather than to individual residences, giving peace
of mind to residents – particularly
overnight. There’s also recording
functionality, incorporating video and
sound as well as still imagery.
Four and
eight port high-PoE
switches launched
Eneo has added four new, high-PoE budget, switches to its Gigabit switch
portfolio. Two new desk-top switch models offer four and eight port,
unmanaged, Gigabit camera channels (IAD-5SG1004/8MUA); with PoE
budgets of 60W or 120W respectively and internal switching fabric
capacities of 12Gbps or 20Gbps. The four-port model has two, Gigabit
copper uplink connections and the eight-port model has both Gigabit
copper and Gigabit fibre, SFP uplink connections. In addition to this, Eneo
has introduced an eight-port, rack-mount, Gigabit switch (IAR-
7SG1008MMA). Its PoE budget is 135W and its internal switching fabric is
24Gbps. As a Level 2, managed switch, it offers VLAN, port-mirroring and
multicast support and it comes with two Gigabit copper and two Gigabit
fibre, SFP uplink connections.
The final addition to the range is an eight port, industrial-rated, Gigabit
switch for tough environments and mission critical applications (IAM-
5SG1008MMA).
Bluetooth gas detector for smartphone set-up and maintenance
Honeywell has launched a new Bluetooth-enabled fixed
gas detector for commercial and light-industrial
applications, enabling set up and maintainance of the
device using a smartphone app.
The Sensepoint XCL is a wall-mounted device that
monitors for hazardous levels of specific gases --
ammonia, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen
dioxide, oxygen or flammable gases – to keep operations
and employees safe. When paired with a smartphone
using a downloadable app, Sensepoint XCL allows a single
installer to perform commissioning, maintenance and
management of the detector without
requiring a second worker in a control
room. It also simplifies generating
system reports needed for regulatory
compliance.
