Keep it clean - Whether you’re
cooking on the grill or storing foods
in coolers, it’s important to clean all
surfaces where food is present to
reduce the risk of ingesting harmful
bacteria. Also, don’t forget to wash
your hands before, during and after
food prep!
Be mindful of temperatures -
Your grilled favorites can get you sick
if they aren’t cooked well enough; use
a meat thermometer to ensure that
hamburgers are cooked to a minimum
of 160°F, chicken to 165°F and hot
dogs to 160°F.
Cool it down - All perishable
foods should be refrigerated below
40°F, so your coolers should always
be stocked with ice. You should
also thaw all frozen foods in the
refrigerator or microwave as opposed
to on the countertop.
Follow the one hour rule -
To prevent bacterial growth, don’t
leave food outside in hot weather
for over one hour. Also, do not save
perishable foods that have been
unrefrigerated for over an hour.
FREE OUTDOOR WORKOUTS
ARE COMING THIS JUNE!
They will be scheduled at many different time slots
to conveniently fit with anyone’s busy agenda.
SUCCESS!
FROM THE AMAZING WEATHER, music
and grilled fare at our BBQ/open house to the
great turnouts during trainer-led group workouts,
we could not have been happier with last month’s
Member MAY-nia events. The energy felt at VIVE was
invigorating, and Member MAY-nia was a wonderful
way to kick off the summer.
We want you to know that Member MAY-nia would
not have been such a success without valued
members like you. We are so glad that you enjoyed
the May activities, capitalized on the discounts and
brought fresh new faces to the Club!
Here are some snapshots
from Member MAY-nia!
We hope you enjoyed these events as much as we
did. We wish you a wonderful summer and hope
you’ll soak up the sunshine with us during our
LOW PULLEY LUNGE
BEYOND BICEPS, a program for males age 35 and up,
has been a huge success since its April launch! In case
you are unaware, here’s the rundown: Beyond Biceps is
an intensive four-week commitment with three training
sessions per week with a VIVE trainer and one “mandatory”
workout to be completed on your own. The goal is to move
the 30+ male from “body building” workouts (that most
likely got them little success in their late teens and 20s) into
workouts that include testosterone boosting, fat burning
combinations of explosive exercises, strength building
exercises and muscle building that will set the participant
up for lifelong fitness. Couple these exercises with a healthy
dose of mobility work, and this program will deliver the
results guys are looking for with the variety that they want
in a fitness routine!
Ladies, you should be excited about MUSCLES AND
MASCARA, a go-to strength training program for women
who want to weight lift without looking “like a bodybuilder.”
The program features strength training exercises that will
make a female’s fat burning cardio workout much more
effective! It has been a successful program so far, and we
hope that you’ll take part in it this June!
programs, which are open to non-members!
INGREDIENTS:
3 oz. peach-pear-apricot puree, 3 oz.
unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 4
freeze-dried banana pieces or 3” fresh
banana, 1 scoop kale, ¼ tsp dried lemon,
¼ tsp lemon extract and 1 scoop vanilla
whey protein
Work those quads this month with
a deep lunge!
Set yourself in a split squat position with your front
foot about two feet from a cable column pulley
(set to the lowest position). Reach out and grab the
D-handle with the same hand as your lead foot.
Extend your front leg to come up to the locked-out
position. Sink back into your front foot, allowing the
cable to slightly pull you forward, while keeping
your torso upright with perfect posture. Do 12
repetitions on each leg for three sets. Make each
lunge go through a controlled descent and ascent,
focusing on squeezing your front quadriceps.
