RESPONDING TO DISASTERS THROUGH THE COURSE OF TIME<br />
SAARC Association of<br />
Architects(SAARCH)<br />
was formally<br />
established in 1991AD<br />
by member Institutes of<br />
Architects of the SAARC<br />
Nations (except Afghanistan)<br />
with the objective of the<br />
development of coordinated<br />
architectural profession<br />
in the SAARC region by<br />
exchange of ideas, developing<br />
and assisting national<br />
architectural bodies, by<br />
working towards international<br />
recognition of qualifications,<br />
and by evolving professional<br />
ethical and educational<br />
guidelines.<br />
The member institute<br />
ofSAARCH are Institute of<br />
Architects of Bangladesh<br />
(IAB), Bhutan Institute of<br />
Architects (BIA), Indian<br />
Institute of Architects (IIA),<br />
Architects Association<br />
Maldives (AAM), Society of<br />
Nepalese Architects (SONA),<br />
Institute of Architects,<br />
Pakistan (IAP) and Sri Lanka<br />
institute of Architects (SLIA).<br />
The SAARCH Assembly<br />
meets by rotation in the<br />
country where the last<br />
SAARC Summit was held.<br />
On the similar context,<br />
SONA is organizing the 14th<br />
SAARCH Assembly and<br />
Council Meeting on the 5th<br />
and 6th of Feb, 2<strong>016</strong> at Hotel<br />
Yak and Yeti, Durbar Marg,<br />
Kathmandu, Nepal. There<br />
will also be a conference<br />
with the theme ‘Resilient<br />
Architecture: Responding<br />
to Disasters through the<br />
Course of Time’, which will<br />
discuss on the possible<br />
adaptation of ‘Resilient<br />
Architecture’ practice and<br />
building technology to endure<br />
the natural and man- made<br />
disasters in the region.<br />
SONA had previously hosted<br />
the SAARCHAssembly and<br />
Conference in 2002 A.D which<br />
was a great success. This<br />
time toowe are anticipating<br />
on making this event<br />
even better with expected<br />
participation of more than 400<br />
architects and architecture<br />
students from within the<br />
member nations.<br />
