with many new learning opportunities and experiences.
To create a dynamic school community, home and school work together.
We encourage you to take an active role in your child’s education by having
regular conversations about school with your child, reading with your child
each evening, checking your child’s agenda book, providing a quiet place to
complete homework and attending school events. In order to keep the lines
of communication open at all times, please feel free to contact your child’s
teacher or any other staff member with questions, concerns or feedback.
The Springfield Heights Parent Advisory Council is another great way to
become actively involved in the life of the school. Attending meetings and/
or volunteering are excellent ways to be an active part of the Springfield
Heights school community. The first SHS PAC Meeting takes place
Parent Volunteer
Orientation Meeting
Wednesday, October 5
All parents interested in
volunteering at Springfield
Heights School are invited to
attend a Parent Volunteer
Orientation Meeting at 6:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, October 5 th in the
library. Parent volunteers are
required to complete a Child
Abuse Registry Form which is
available at the office or on
October 5 th. Please join us to
learn more about volunteering at
Springfield Heights School.
Allergies
Many Springfield Heights students
have extreme allergies to different
foods, in particular nuts and any
nut product, oil or flour. The
allergies range from mild to life
threatening. Some children may
have a reaction if an item is even
in their proximity. As a nut-safe
school, please do not send nuts or
food containing nuts to school at
any time.
Thank you for
your cooperation
in keeping all
students safe.
We continue to review practices and procedures to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors at Springfield Heights School.
Safety procedures are as follows:
1. All parents/guardians arriving to school to pick up their child(ren) at the end of the school day are asked to wait in the front foyer or outside depending on
the door children exit. This is to prevent disruptions to classes still in session and ensure that strangers are not given access to students.
2. When children leave school early for appointments, etc. the parent or guardian is required to sign a form at the office with the child’s name, date, time,
parent name (printed). If parents are not known by front office staff, identification will be requested.
3. Please make sure that students do not arrive at school before 8:40 a.m. Supervision starts at this time.
Thank you for your understanding. We appreciated your support in helping keep all students safe.
We look forward to meeting more parents and community members throughout the coming months. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not
hesitate to call the school. Working together, we can ensure the best learning opportunities for all our students at Springfield Heights School.

School Fees / Fundraising Meet the Teacher
Please ensure that school fees for school
supplies have been submitted to classroom
teachers by October 15. All money
collected through school fundraising are
to be returned to the office this week.
Thank you all families who participated
in the SHS school-wide fundraising drive
this September. Your support and participation
will allow SHS PAC to plan activities
and opportunities to enhance the
educational experience of SHS students.
Transportation
When a regular school bus has
to be taken out of service for
repairs/inspections a spare bus
is used. Our spare buses are
numbered in the 70’s (70 – 79).
It is impossible to notify every
parent and student of these
changes when a breakdown
occurs.
On occasion a regular bus may
be called upon to cover the bus
that has broken down.
Recently we have had several
calls about the “70” buses, we
hope that this will answer their
questions parents may have.
If you have any question, please
do not hesitate to call the
Transportation Department at
