SONS OF SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERANS AND THE MILITARY ORDER OF THE SERPENT INVITE YOU TO JOIN OUR ORDERS The purpose of the SSAWV is to perpetuate the memory of the services of veterans of the Spanish-American War Era, which includes the Spanish-American War, the Philippine Insurrection and the China Relief Expedition; 1898-1913. The purpose of the MOS is the maintenance of a secret society created to perpetuate the memories of the services of veterans of the Spanish- American War Era. Membership is open to male descendants who can document a relation to a Soldier, Sailor, Marine or Mariner who was regularly mustered and served honorably in, or was honorably discharged from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps or Merchant Marine of the United States of America or one of her Allied nation’s military forces during the Spanish-American War Era. We also have Associate, Junior and Real Son memberships. More information, a listing of Camps, and an application can be found here: http://www.ssawv.org In Freedom, Patriotism and Humanity Scottish-American Military Society The Scottish-American Military Society (SAMS) was founded and chartered in North Carolina, April 12, 1981, as a non-profit organization with the following purpose: To preserve and promote Scottish and American Armed Forces customs, traditions, and heritage, by: � Providing a forum for exchange of military history and genealogical information � Conducting public education programs � Presenting military student honor awards � Supporting Scottish activities at Highland Games � Making contributions to qualified scholarship funds or institutions � Making appropriate charitable contributions � Providing a fraternal atmosphere for members The Society was founded as a veterans organization. The membership is composed primarily of veterans of Scottish ancestry who have served – or are serving – in the Armed Forces of the United States and the Commonwealth.
