Fabric Manufacturing (Practical)
Course Code: MCT255 L-0, P-4 C-2
Objectives: To enable students to understand and learn methods of developing fabric by using different fibres,
yarn, and fabric making techniques.
Course Contents:
1. Collection of samples of woven fabrics, identification of weave by visual examination using magnifying
glass.
2. Drafting and lifting plan of different weaves on graph paper.
3. Weaving-Setting up of a loom, Sample preparation of following weaves on handloom- plain, twill, Rib, satin,
basket, pile, strip and checks.
4. Knitting- Setting the machine for basic knitting, Control of design elements. Fabric construction through a
non- conventional method.

External examiner appointed by university shall conduct the practical along with internal faculty and shall
assess out of 50 marks. The student would be required to complete an experiment during the practical
examination and write the detail process, findings/ results and conclusions in the examination evaluation copy.
