SEMESTER IV<br />

Commercial <strong>Cloth<strong>in</strong>g</strong> and Pattern Development<br />

Course Code: MCT405 L-4, P-0, C-4<br />

Objectives: To promote entrepreneurship skills among students and to develop an understand<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> garment<br />

manuf<strong>ac</strong>tur<strong>in</strong>g technology and its importance <strong>in</strong> today’s consumer market.<br />

Unit I<br />

Establish<strong>in</strong>g an enterprise: Problems, In<strong>for</strong>mation, and Source/Scheme of Assistance.<br />

Manag<strong>in</strong>g Boutique- management techniques- plann<strong>in</strong>g, organiz<strong>in</strong>g, appo<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g staff, execut<strong>in</strong>g, execut<strong>in</strong>g ,<br />

controll<strong>in</strong>g. (8 hours)<br />

Unit II<br />

M<strong>ac</strong>h<strong>in</strong>ery and equipments required <strong>for</strong> garment production at <strong>in</strong>dustrial level <strong>for</strong> cutt<strong>in</strong>g, sew<strong>in</strong>g, f<strong>in</strong>ish<strong>in</strong>g, and<br />

embellishment (8 hours)<br />

Unit III<br />

F<strong>in</strong>ancial management- F<strong>in</strong>ancial plann<strong>in</strong>g, source of f<strong>in</strong>ance, <strong>in</strong>stitution f<strong>in</strong>ance to entrepreneur work<strong>in</strong>g<br />

capital managemaent. Human resource management- manpower plann<strong>in</strong>g, job requirement, recruitment and<br />

selection, tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and development, remuneration and benefits, Purchas<strong>in</strong>g- objectives, responsibilies of<br />

purchase manager, purchas<strong>in</strong>g polices. (8 hours)<br />

Unit IV<br />

Quality assurance <strong>in</strong> garment manuf<strong>ac</strong>tur<strong>in</strong>g- <strong>in</strong>spection and its significance. Raw material <strong>in</strong>spection, <strong>in</strong><br />

process <strong>in</strong>spection, f<strong>in</strong>al <strong>in</strong>spection. (8 hours)<br />

Unit V<br />

Market<strong>in</strong>g management- problems of market<strong>in</strong>g, market segmentation, market<strong>in</strong>g mix, Plann<strong>in</strong>g and budget<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>for</strong> retail store, ma<strong>in</strong>tenance and order<strong>in</strong>g of stocks, keep<strong>in</strong>g sales record and prepare report.<br />
