SEMESTER III<br />

Computer Aided Textile & Apparel design<strong>in</strong>g (Pr<strong>ac</strong>tical)<br />

Course Code: MCT357 L-0, P-4, C-2<br />

Objective: To impart knowledge of CAD tools. To make student able <strong>in</strong> design<strong>in</strong>g through computer.<br />

Course Contents:<br />

Revision and pr<strong>ac</strong>tice on CAD commands; Creat<strong>in</strong>g stripes and checks us<strong>in</strong>g various commands; Creat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

weave library and assign<strong>in</strong>g weaves to <strong>the</strong> designed stripes and checks <strong>for</strong> weav<strong>in</strong>g; Introduction to commands<br />

from different tool groups- file menu, freehand tools, geometric tool, selection tool, selection utility tool, colour<br />

utilities tool and general utilities tool.<br />

Develop<strong>in</strong>g motifs by scann<strong>in</strong>g and draw<strong>in</strong>g us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> CAD commands; Creat<strong>in</strong>g full design/ repeat us<strong>in</strong>g drop<br />

devices; creat<strong>in</strong>g weaves and stor<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> J<strong>ac</strong>quard weave library; Assign<strong>in</strong>g weaves to <strong>the</strong> design plan. Learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />

pr<strong>in</strong>t commands- simulation and graph/po<strong>in</strong>t paper.<br />

Develop<strong>in</strong>g a computer aided portfolio of different motifs; Introduction to Re<strong>ac</strong>h fashion studio software;<br />

Command bars and assistants; Menu bar and options; Draw<strong>in</strong>g tools; Colour render<strong>in</strong>g; Fill, pattern and repeat;<br />

Creation of Special effects Layers and layer sett<strong>in</strong>gs; Introduction to drap<strong>in</strong>g mode; Outl<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, creation of grid<br />

and edit<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> object; Drap<strong>in</strong>g scanned pictures; Texture mapp<strong>in</strong>g and creat<strong>in</strong>g effects; Development of library<br />

and pr<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g draped figures.<br />

External exam<strong>in</strong>er appo<strong>in</strong>ted by university shall conduct <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>ac</strong>tical along with <strong>in</strong>ternal f<strong>ac</strong>ulty and shall<br />

assess out of 50 marks. The student would be required to complete an experiment dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>ac</strong>tical<br />

exam<strong>in</strong>ation and write <strong>the</strong> detail process, f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs/ results and conclusions <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> exam<strong>in</strong>ation evaluation copy.<br />
