Semester-II<br />

Advanced Apparel Design<strong>in</strong>g and Construction<br />

Course Code: MCT202 L-4, P-0, C-4<br />

Objective: To provide <strong>in</strong>-depth knowledge of garment construction techniques and to enables the students<br />

to obta<strong>in</strong> perfect fit and harmony of fabric and design of garments.<br />

Unit – I<br />

Special consideration <strong>in</strong> design<strong>in</strong>g and layout of the garment for pr<strong>in</strong>ts, stripes, checks, pile fabric. Handl<strong>in</strong>g<br />

of special fabric while cutt<strong>in</strong>g and stitch<strong>in</strong>g. (Deep pile, l<strong>ac</strong>e, velvet, chiffon, knits, leather)<br />

Unit – II<br />

Support<strong>in</strong>g Fabrics: Interl<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, Interf<strong>ac</strong><strong>in</strong>g, Underl<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g: their functions and application.<br />

Unit – III<br />

Fitt<strong>in</strong>g: F<strong>ac</strong>tors affect<strong>in</strong>g good fit. Fitt<strong>in</strong>g shell, Master pattern and the test garment.<br />

Common Problem encountered <strong>in</strong> fitt<strong>in</strong>g, Remedies of fitt<strong>in</strong>g defects, Basic Pattern alterations <strong>in</strong> length,<br />

Evaluat<strong>in</strong>g the quality of apparel – Identify<strong>in</strong>g the components of apparel- Fiber content , shap<strong>in</strong>g device ,<br />

pockets , neckl<strong>in</strong>es , hem treatment , decorative details.<br />
