Fashion Dynamics and Illustration
Course Code: MCT104 L-4, P-0, C-4
Objectives: To understand the dynamics of fashion and role of fashion designers & to learn about the
designers of international and national fame and their contribution to the fashion of today.
Course Contents
Unit – I
Fashion Concepts- Fashion terminology, Principles of fashion. Theories of fashion adoption, Fashion leaders
and fashion followers, fashion cycle, Psychology of fashion, Factors affecting fashion and its change,
Sources of advanced fashion information, Fashion anticipation. (8 hours)
Unit – II
Creating Fashion-Basic Components of fashion: Texture, Colour, Silhouette, Detail, Fabric, Seams and
Trims. (8 hours)
Unit – III
Coordination of design and fabric, Basic structural features: Detail and design, feature utilization.
(8 hours)
Unit – IV
Developing fashion line/ range, Interpreting theme/trend, Scope of line, Line portfolio. (6 hours)
Unit – V
History of fashion, present status of couture / apparel industry in France, Italy. Indian apparel industry:
history, development and present status. Indian Fashion designer and institute. (10 hours)
