SPONSORS WELCOME to the 59th annual <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> on the Square A GRAND CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS The <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> on the Square is the Madison Museum of Contemporary <strong>Art</strong>’s largest and most important fundraiser, helping keep admission free for all visitors. DID YOU KNOW? 1. <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> on the Square is organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary <strong>Art</strong>? It is! Madison Museum of Contemporary <strong>Art</strong> (MMoCA) connects people with contemporary art and art making. We do this through many programs and events, including <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> on the Square. 2. Emerging artists exhibit at the fair? The 100 block of State Street is dedicated to emerging artists, jury selected, who are skilled, yet early in their careers. Alongside these artists, you can stop by and see special business exhibitors as well. 3. MMoCA has a 116-year history in Madison, and that the <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> on the Square is older than the Super Bowl? After a distinguished 105-year history in borrowed and refurbished spaces, the Madison Museum of Contemporary <strong>Art</strong> opened to the public on April 23, 2006, in a new building neighboring the Overture Center for the <strong>Art</strong>s on State Street. This summer marks the 59th annual <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> on the Square—nearly six decades of great art in the fresh air around the Square. 4. Who benefits from <strong>Art</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> on the Square? Everyone! This event is the museum’s most important fundraiser, but this event also benefits nearly 500 artists and approximately 200,000 art-lovers, as well as boosting local businesses and the greater community.
