L O W C O S T A D V E R T I S I N G A T I T S B E S T POEM CORNER A Peaceful Interlude Slowly I glide on the tranquil stream, Twix downy willows fingered leaves A watery world, as quiet I dream Enter a delusional world of make believe. Poem donated by David Garrett Could there be a comparison With such a peaceful jaunt As snow white swan’s small garrison Show contempt as by they flaunt. Under alders spreading canopy Where the cooing pigeons hide, This soothing sound bides with me As a sound of eventide. Dimpled rings of rising fish Silver droplets catching the sun’s ray Warm thoughts as a scene so English Befits this summer day. No sound but summer’s country voices Is heard, with evenings soft advance The punt floats throughout this wonderland Like a ballerina’s dance. A golden, glowing, sinking sun Give the water’s surface iridescent sheen It joins the darkening clouds as one To the shimmering river’s gleam. Alone, with just thoughts for company, Peace, silence, fleeting ecstasy, my world my sphere, I rule I serve, I am the peasantry, For a few short hours no one can interfere.
