Key message of Total Defence
Total Defence (TD) involves every Singaporean playing a part, individually and collectively, to build a strong,
secure and cohesive nation. When we are strong, we are able to deal with any crisis.
Objective of Total Defence Commemoration
To ensure that every student knows and internalises that he or she has a role to play in the safety and security
of the nation.
It was the English and Humanities departments’ aim to provide our students with a series of meaningful
programmes to instil in our students the sense of importance with regards to Total Defence. We feel that the
comprehensive nature of the programmes implemented have helped us to achieve this aim.
International Friendship Week
The Math as well as the Art and
Technology (A&T) department
teachers organised various activities
to celebrate International Friendship
Week (3 - 6 April).
This year, the theme is ONE
ASEAN and our students learnt the
importance of cultivating strong
friendships with our international
friends. Our students went through
specially designed LiVE lessons and
lessons in Math, D&T, Art, FCE and
Music to learn more about ASEAN:
its geography, demographics and
diverse cultures. The morning

meaningful sharing by students who
went to Jakarta for the BACABAH
Tripartite Exchange in 2016.
The class of 1T1 would like to thank
all students and teachers for their
generous support at the ASEAN
photo booth. A total of $230 was
collected, and our 1T1 students
learnt to apply ICT skills and how to
run a photo booth. In October 2017,
our Sec 3T students will use the
money collected to buy stationery
for students in a local village
school in the outskirts of Ho Chi
Minh City, Vietnam, in the Sec 3T
ExSEL programme.
