Patan Durbar Square, Swayambhu,<br />
Bauddhanath, Changu Narayan, Pashupati.<br />
The World Heritage Committee added the<br />
Kathmandu Valley property to the World<br />
Heritage in Danger L<strong>is</strong>t (WHDL) in 2003<br />
due to the rapid and often uncontrolled<br />
urban development in and immediately<br />
around the World Heritage Site. The<br />
WHDL currently features 34 sites and aims<br />
to emphas<strong>is</strong>e the difficulties of preserving<br />
the site and to help the State Party in its<br />
search for international ass<strong>is</strong>tance. If a<br />
