Issue 12 - Fear
Aishwarya Ashok
luckily found StoryMirror actively
publishing books, and immediately
we approached them. Getting them
on board was the next big task, for
we had to prove our worth before
they could invest in us. Some of our
poems (about 11 to be precise) were
sent as samples to be screened by
the publishers and finally, they were
quite impressed with our works.
They agreed to publish and hence
took birth our book.
Editor: In today’s world do you
feel people encourage young
authors/poets?
Aishwarya: Well, I initially doubted
whether amateur/upcoming writers
can ignite people around, but surely
experiences proved me wrong. Of
late, I’ve been seeing young and new
authors getting appreciation for their
works. We’re an example ourselves.
Our book launch held at TitleWaves,
Bandra, witnessed enthusiastic audience
who were happy to see our
journey. Also, the response our book
has been getting is convincing, giving
us joy and scope for further improvement
in our successive creations. So
yes, I feel encouragement is getting
its hold, and gradually it’ll take its
paramount place.
Editor: What is the one thing
you’d want to tell your younger
self?
Aishwarya: I’m 22 years old now.
I’m still young, ain’t I? Just kidding.
If there’s something I’d ever want
to tell me, at every walk of life, it’s
this—Don’t set limits for the things
you should achieve. Dream bigger as
you’re totally worth it.
Editor: Do you believe in the
term ‘Writers Block’?
Aishwarya: Yes, I do. You just can’t
keep walking over a bed of roses for
the thorns are inevitable. Writer’s
Block does occur, causing a slowdown
in your process and curbing
your creativity. But that’s the time
you need to relax and put on your
positive-thinking cap. Work on yourself,
and build your writing skills.
Your capacity may be low, but you’ll
surely rise back with a bang.
Editor: Would you like to convey
a message to all the budding/aspiring
writers out there?
Aishwarya: Trust your potential, look
out for exciting opportunities, reflect
upon yourself, and learn to correct
your flaws. Above all, dream and
believe in your dreams. Live the life
you’ve imagined.
Editor: What’s your mantra for
tough times?
Aishwarya: Tough times are a proof
that good ones are ahead. The mantra
is quite simple—Learn to turn
your CAN’Ts into CANs. Every time
you feel you can’t do something,
work towards achieving that. After
all, what’s the fun if you get what you
want immediately?
Editor: Did you self-publish
your book?
Aishwarya: No. As suggested earlier,
a famous publishing house called
StoryMirror decided to launch our
book and we’re extremely thankful
to them for having believed in us.
It’s great to have your very first book
launched by a well-known platform.
Editor: Are you planning any
