Old Boy Julian Howard talks to Year 12
As part of skills week, Year 12 were treated to a wonderful experience when
John Fisher Alumni, Julian Howard, took time out of his manic schedule
to talk to them about his career to date. After leaving John Fisher, Julian
has gone on to carve a very impressive career in visual animation and
film effects, working on the Oscar winning ‘Jungle Book’, as well as Harry
Potter and G.I.Joe.
Starting with Year 12, he showed a very interesting video which outlined
the different roles and areas which go into making an animated film. He
also gave snippets of insight into his career and how he had got where he
is now.
After this talk, he spent some time speaking to Year 7 in their Art lesson,
looking at the work they have produced and passing on some advice for
improvement. Julian even found time to spot himself in the 1989 School
photo with some old friends and even older staff!
A very enjoyable experience from all involved and one which will serve
the students well as they move forward into the world of work one day.
