THE SUCIMURNI RETREAT AT TANJONG
JARA RESORT
Where: Terengganu, Malaysia
When: October 27-29
For a country that boasts it is truly Asia, the Tanjong Jara
Resort is a pure reflection of that saying. Located along
Malaysia’s pristine east coast, the stunning resort is
reminiscent of tropical rainforest and architecture brimming
with the grandeur of 17th-century Malay palaces – it won
the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The word
“Sucimurni” is an ancient Malay way of life that embraces
tranquility and purity through wholesome living, need we say
more? The Sucimurni Retreat will be led by Malaysia’s most
recognised yoga teacher, founder and instructor of Upward
Yoga studio, Ninie Ahmad. The unique wellness experience
aims to provide guests with a refuge from the pressures of
daily life. The highlight of this retreat is the Zendoodling
session (Zen and doodles). This freeform art-practice has
been dubbed as “finger yoga” by some, as it enables
practitioners to enter a calm, meditative state through the
drawing of shapes. Additionally, guests will also partake in the
resort’s signature Sucimurni Exercise – a series of stretches
inspired by the main animal chakras, led by the resort’s very
own Captain Mokh and yoga. Looks like we will be stretching
ourselves to a new us thanks to this retreat.
Need to know: The Sucimurni Retreat starts at Dhs 800++
per night, visit tanjongjararesort.com
