Boys Sporting Extra Curricular
Boys sport in the sixth form has flourished at Lincoln Minster School over the last five years with
both competitive and leisure activities available.
Rugby:
The school has a first XV team which competes against schools in the county and into Yorkshire most
Saturday mornings. They also compete midweek in the Daily Mail RBS under 18 Cup. During the
Lent term Rugby Sevens is conducted with the aim of participating into the County Competition and
National Schools Festival (Rosslyn Park) in March. The school is proud of its representation and has
several county NLD players and even Leicester Tigers EPDG Academy Players. The climax of the
school rugby season is the „old boys‟ match at Christmas.
Football:
As with rugby, the school runs an U18 XI and has done so for the last five years. Football is played
on Saturdays during the Lent term and the U18 XI is entered into the FA Schools U18 Cup with
Round 1 matches played in September.
Cricket:
The school runs a successful U18 XI, although fixtures are at a premium with the Trinity Term focus
on external examinations. The team plays Saturday fixtures during the first half-term of the summer
(40 over matches) and mid-week County Cup matches after school (Twenty20 games). We are proud
to have several county cricketers in the U18 XI. The last match of the season is the Twenty20 „Old
Boys‟ match and is thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Track and Field Athletics:
Senior athletics are permitted to trial for the Lincolnshire and Gainsborough District Athletics Team
in the early part of Trinity Term. If successful they compete in the County Championships. These
Championships also act as selection for the East Anglia Championships. In both, performances are
measures and valid for entry into the ESAA National Championships. Sixth Form pupils also compete
in school Sports Day.
Cross Country Running:
Senior Runners compete in the Lincoln and Gainsborough event in order to be selected for the County
Championships. If successful at County, competitors are then permitted to run at the National Finals
