A THANK YOU NOTE: MAULDIN POLICE
ACADEMY CAMP
Dear Police Academy Camp,
I wanted to share this with you all because we owe a huge thank you to all of you for
the lessons and training taught at the Mauldin Police Academy Camp!
Aiden Williams, who attended the camp two years ago, reacted quickly to a situation
that could have resulted quite differently. After plugging in a lithium battery that powers
an Airsoft gun, he heard a pop. The battery quickly after began shooting sparks and
flames. He called 911 while rushing to get a small fire extinguisher from the garage
and he was able to get the fire extinguished just before the Fire Department arrived.
The Mauldin Fire Department commended him on his quick reaction! They asked
where he learned that life skill... he responded, “From the Mauldin Police Academy
Camp!”
Wow! You may often wonder what these boys and girls take away after weeks of camp
and this is a great example! Thank you all so much for your continued commitment to
this camp! A true example of your training at work! It is more than greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mandy and Michael Williams
