ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2017
Mauldin has attracted many new projects in recent
months, and with new projects come new jobs. BB&T’s
newly constructed mortgage servicing center houses
more than 600 associates, while Verizon Wireless’s
expansion of existing operations in Mauldin will create
260 new jobs; MP Husky’s new facility on Old Stage Road,
currently under construction, is projected to create
more than 50 new jobs; and Caristrap International will
bring 100 new jobs to its first U.S. facility in Mauldin.
More incoming businesses project to bring more than
1,000 jobs combined over the next five years, including
Morley, Anyone Home, a new Courtyard by Marriott in
Millport Circle, and Turbine Technologies, Inc.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT HIGHLIGHTS (cont.)
Other businesses have undergone construction, renovation, and relocation within
Mauldin, including Jon Kane Fashions, Wendy’s, Little Pigs Bar-B-Q, ACE Hardware,
and the soon-to-open Tropical Grille. Additionally, the Social Security Administration
is relocating from Greenville to Mauldin’s North Main Street, while construction is
underway on North Main for the Office of Disability and Adjudication Review.
Mauldin’s development includes the City’s vision for urban village growth and design.
In coordination with Greenville County, the city of Mauldin obtained approval for
two multi-county parks. Additionally, Mauldin has approved various amendments
to update its zoning laws in order to cultivate more mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly
development throughout the city.
As the city grows, Mauldin remains a safe, inviting community. In 2017, Money
Magazine recognized Mauldin as one of the best places to live in the United
States. Known for its excellent schools, great businesses, low crime rates, low
property taxes, and a great workforce, Mauldin was the top ranked South Carolina
community on the magazine’s list. Nerdwallet named Mauldin one of the ten best
cities to start a business, and OnlyInYourState.com named Mauldin in the 15 happiest
cities in SC. SmartAsset ranked the city as having the healthiest housing market as well
as one of the top five safest cities in the state, while the Palmetto Promise Institute listed
Mauldin among the top
five enterprise-friendly
SC cities.
The Mauldin community
demands growth and
excellence, and each
City department strives
to meet that standard.
With the support of
Mauldin City Council,
the people of Mauldin
work together toward
a bright and flourishing
future.
IN THE MEDIA
MAULDIN PUBLIC ART TRAIL UNVEILING
The City of Mauldin unveiled its third installation along its Public Art Trail in December.
This year, artist Yelitza Díaz Muzzarelli’s sculpture entitled We Are All One embraces
the theme “Appreciation of Diversity,” exalting the spirit of struggle, equality, and
reciprocity of the citizens of Mauldin regardless of their differences.
Yelitza Díaz Muzzarelli specializes in sculpture, winning awards in national and
international Fine Arts competitions since her youth. She has worked in art history and
arts education, as well as cultural promotion in her home country of Venezuela. After
immigrating to the United States, she has continued her artistic work in South Carolina
with her own gallery, Muzzarelli-Díaz-Art. Her works are represented in galleries and
collections throughout Venezuela, Europe, and the United States.
Passionate about the human
figure, Díaz makes her sculptures
with mixed media techniques,
minimalist-contemporary styles,
and a clear inclination for human
existentialism. Her work aims to reflect
the hopes and deepest thoughts of
the human being.
The Trail was established in
December of 2014 as a way to
beautify the community with
artworks created by South Carolina
artists. This year’s sculpture will join
two others outside of the Mauldin
Cultural Center, 2015’s The Depot
and 2016’s Palmetto with Flowers.
An RFQ for 2018’s installation will
be released in February. Local
artists interested in being a part of
the Public Art Trail should contact
the Office of Cultural Affairs or visit
