Youth Athletics
Basketball games began at the Mauldin
Sports Center in January with over 320
participants this season. Playoffs begin
on February 12 and will be followed
with All-Star games at the beginning of
March.
Registration for spring sports began in
January, including baseball for 2-12,
softball, and lacrosse. This will be the
fourth year of the lacrosse program, and as the program continues to grow there are
new opportunities for volunteer lacrosse coaches. Other sports will begin registration in
February, including flag football and baseball for ages 13-14.
This year’s spring baseball program, which follows the Dixie Youth Rules, will be
required to follow a new bat rule stating all bats must be stamped “USA Baseball.”

Sports Center
December was an exciting month for the Sports Center. The 12 Days of Fitness
Challenge was a huge success with more than 60 participants and more than 170 fitness
classes were taught over the month. Classes were also taught at Oakview Elementary
School to fourth and fifth graders. Fitness opportunities continue in January with the
Biggest Loser Competition, which is projected to see more than 50 entrants.
