“A true sister is a friend who listens with her heart.” In the age of digital communication, listening and hearing take on special connotations and certainly special skills. Long before email and social media, communication was accomplished by making a personal connection. Getting the word out about Sisterhood events in years past was by bulk mailings of flyers, personal phone calls, and verbal announcements. In today’s busy lifestyle, communication still is how we function, but the methods have changed. Now nearly everyone is connected through some form of digital device. Temple Emanuel Sisterhood is no exception. Temple Emanuel Sisterhood Notifying Sisterhood membership about upcoming programming is extremely important. It drives our participation and attendance at events. In the digital age, where information flows freely, we seem to be bombarded with notices. Sisterhood is endeavoring to make this process easy. Here are the current ways we share programming information: Constant Contact emails. Sisterhood sends out Constant Contact announcements marked from “Temple Emanuel Sisterhood.” Sisterhood event information is also included in all Friday Constant Contacts marked from “Temple Emanuel.” If you are not receiving these, please contact the office to update your email address. Facebook. Join the “Temple Emanuel Sisterhood-Cherry Hill, NJ” Facebook page. Event flyers are posted regularly. Also join the “Temple Emanuel Cherry Hill” Facebook page. Temple Emanuel website. Visit the event registration page to register for upcoming events. The yearly calendar of events is also listed on the Sisterhood page, as well as the upcoming events under the “events” tab. The Light. Events are listed on the main calendar that is included in all Light publications. You will also find event listings in the Sisterhood article. As you can see, three of the four methods of communication are electronic. We recognize that not everyone uses email and the Internet. If you do not use electronic communication or have any questions, please contact me at 856-466-8079 so that we can accommodate your preferred method of communication. To the Men of Temple Emanuel, I hope everyone had a fantastic summer! As I am writing this article, our Men’s Club Board is hard at work planning our annual Kick-Off Meeting, which is Sunday, September 24 at 9:15 am. This is always a great time to reconnect with everyone after the summer, meet some new faces, and get an overview of the programs and events planned for the year. As always, we will have some fun surprises in store. Please come out and join us...our brotherhood only gets better as we have more active and engaged members like you! After our brunch on the 24th, stick around for our annual tradition of helping to build the Temple Emanuel Sukkah. Then, October 1st is our 4th Annual Scotch & Steak in the Sukkah! Come enjoy succulent steak and savory scotch in the Sukkah while schmoozing with your friends. Not to worry, if you aren’t into steak or scotch, we will have salmon and chicken as well as other spirits and beverages available. October 29th at 9:15 am is our Men’s Health & Wellness Challenge. Nothing is as important as maintaining good health, both physical and mental. Be there as we kick off our Men’s Health Wellness Challenge, where you will enjoy a great brunch, have the chance to hear from and engage with several speakers on this topic, and find out how you can participate in our year-long challenge!
