Community
A cool way to care
Residents and businesses can now donate food
that would have been wasted to The Milton Keynes
Community Fridge. Co-op, Wordsworth Avenue
and Costa’s are leading the way in supporting the
service and helping to reduce food waste.
Donated foods such as fruit, vegetables, bread
and sandwiches must be within their sell-by date
and be prepared as well as cooked in a Registered
Food Business.
Co-ordinator Helen Innes said, “We are thrilled
with MK Community Fridge and thank everyone
who has helped make it happen. Food businesses in
Wolverton and Milton Keynes can now donate their surplus
food and we’d love to hear from anyone who can help.”
If you need to access the food in the two fridges and
one freezer, visit The Old Bath House Community Centre,
Wolverton, from 7.00-9.00pm Monday-Friday.
Crowd-funding and support from environmental charity
Hubbub UK and Bosch have helped to ensure the venture’s
The average UK household throws away £470 worth of
food every year while 4 million people are living in food
poverty. Community Fridges have been successful in Spain
and Germany as well as other parts of the UK as a way of
cutting food waste.
