HAMPTON ART WALK<br />

The 8th annual Hampton Arts<br />

Network Art Walk will be held Sept<br />

15-23. The Baron Forrester wine &<br />

cheese shop will kick - off the event<br />

with a wine tasting on the 15th from 5-<br />

8 pm and coffee sampling the <strong>16</strong>th at 9<br />

am. Downtown Hampton shops, Lane<br />

Library, Town Hall and three Banks<br />

will also be participating. Activities<br />

during this event will include two Paint<br />

& Sip classes, one on the 19th at 6pm<br />

at Baron Forrester with artist Linda<br />

Gebhart, and the other on the 20th<br />

at the Old Salt at 6:30 with artist Jody<br />

Mueller. A Watercolor painting Demo<br />

by artist Peg Duffin will take place at<br />

Marelli’s Market at 6:00 p.m. also on<br />

the 20th. And on the 21st is a kid’s<br />

craft night at the Lane Library from<br />

5:30-7:30 p.m. for ages 8 yrs and up.<br />

The HAN member’s group art show<br />

will be in the Lane Library Gallery all<br />

month long, as well as the art displays<br />

in shops. Students from the HAN<br />

Summer Enrichment program will<br />

display their art work at the People’s<br />

United Bank. New this year will be a<br />

chance to win gift certificates & gift<br />

baskets from the shops. Maps will<br />

be available at the shops, look for the<br />

white & blue banners hanging in the<br />

windows at participating locations.<br />

Enjoy local art while visiting shops on<br />

the map all week long, the raffle entry<br />

box will be at Woof Pet Nutrition &<br />

Supply Center. This is a free family<br />

gardening and create a paper butterfly<br />

that will spend the winter with<br />

children who live near the monarch<br />

sanctuaries in Mexico We will work<br />

together as citizen scientists to tag<br />

and release several monarchs to start<br />

READING SERIES<br />

The Powow River Poets present two<br />

poets on Saturday, September <strong>16</strong>, 20<strong>17</strong><br />

at 3 p.m. at the Newburyport Public<br />

Library. Wendy Sloan and James B.<br />

Nicola both live in New York City,<br />

both are skilled in formal verse, yet<br />

both work in different subject matter.<br />

Wendy Sloan’s first collection of<br />

poetry, Sunday Mornings at the Caffe<br />

Mediterraneum (Kelsay Books 20<strong>16</strong>),<br />

was featured at both the First Books<br />

Panel of the West Chester Poetry<br />

Conference and the New Books Panel<br />

at Poetry by the Sea. Open mic at the<br />

end is limited to ten readers with one<br />

poem or less than two minutes each.<br />

SANCTUARY<br />

Explore the sanctuary’s wetlands,<br />

fields, forest, and river edges in search of<br />

the many bird species attracted to these<br />

habitats. At this transitional time of year<br />

we may find late-migrating warblers<br />

and vireos, lingering summer birds such<br />

as tanagers and grosbeaks, along with<br />

hawks, an assortment of waterfowl, and<br />

early winter arrivals including juncos<br />

and white-throated sparrows. Learn<br />

to identify birds in their nonbreeding<br />

plumage. Beginners welcome! Sunday,<br />

- at the beach, in the salt marsh, and<br />
