HAMPTON ART WALK The 8th annual Hampton Arts Network Art Walk will be held Sept 15-23. The Baron Forrester wine & cheese shop will kick - off the event with a wine tasting on the 15th from 5- 8 pm and coffee sampling the 16th at 9 am. Downtown Hampton shops, Lane Library, Town Hall and three Banks will also be participating. Activities during this event will include two Paint & Sip classes, one on the 19th at 6pm at Baron Forrester with artist Linda Gebhart, and the other on the 20th at the Old Salt at 6:30 with artist Jody Mueller. A Watercolor painting Demo by artist Peg Duffin will take place at Marelli’s Market at 6:00 p.m. also on the 20th. And on the 21st is a kid’s craft night at the Lane Library from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for ages 8 yrs and up. The HAN member’s group art show will be in the Lane Library Gallery all month long, as well as the art displays in shops. Wendy Sloan and James B. Nicola both live in New York City, both are skilled in formal verse, yet both work in different subject matter. Wendy Sloan’s first collection of poetry, Sunday Mornings at the Caffe Mediterraneum (Kelsay Books 2016), was featured at both the First Books Panel of the West Chester Poetry Conference and the New Books Panel at Poetry by the Sea. At this transitional time of year we may find late-migrating warblers and vireos, lingering summer birds such as tanagers and grosbeaks, along with hawks, an assortment of waterfowl, and early winter arrivals including juncos and white-throated sparrows. Join a refuge ranger for a behind the scenes tour of Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge, located in Newington, NH. Participants will have an opportunity to visit areas of the refuge that are not normally open to the public. See a diversity of wildlife habitats while learning how the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is managing this very special landscape for conservation. Consider bringing along binoculars and a camera. The tour is limited to 14 participants; no more than 4 individuals per sign-up. This is a vehicle-based tour, with limited stops on the refuge. This guided program is most appropriate for older teens. and adults. Meet the ranger in the lobby of the Parker River NWR visitor center in Newburyport no later than 9:00 am OR in the Great Bay NWR parking lot in Newington, NH no later than 9:45 am. (Indicate location you prefer at time of registration.)
