11. A large wineglass, the tulip bowl with solid base on a stem with hollow drop knop, plain section and base knop on a folded foot. English c. 1715-20 Height 17.7 cm Collection: John Towse. A most unusual and rare form of glass for this period. It is lighter in weight than some due to the volume of air in the stem. 12. A goblet, the thistle bowl with solid base, engraved with the arms of the City of Delft beneath the inscription GOEDE REGE RINGE VAN DELFT, the stem with mushroom and base knops on a folded foot. English c. 1710-20 Height 18.2 cm Collections: Illustrated: Roy Dunstan. Dr Clarence Lewis. The Baluster Family, Delomosne & Son Ltd, London, 1985, no.12a; Glass Notes 12, Arthur Churchill Ltd, London, 1952, fig. 2. The classic form for a mushroom knop having a thistle bowl. It is likely that the engraving is English in spite of the Dutch subject matter.
