33. A goblet, the bell bowl on a stem with a five ring annular knop and true baluster, on plain conical foot. English c. 1725-30 Height 21 cm Collection: Lord McAlpine. A fine goblet of a type much favoured at this date. The true baluster stem is the key feature here and the annulated knop may be considered a bonus. !42
34. A rare dessert glass, the oval double ogee bowl with a finely engraved baroque border on a stem with an acorn knop flanked by small knops on a domed foot. English c. 1730-40 Height 16.8 cm Collection: Illustrated: Alexander. Bickerton, L. M., Eighteenth Century English Drinking Glasses: An Illustrated Guide, Antique Collectors’ Club, Woodbridge, 1971, p. 97, no. 179. An extremely rare glass often known as a ‘lemon’ glass, which may have been placed on top of a pyramid of tazzas at the dessert.
