Since 1935 the Dutch town of Pella, Iowa, has<br />

celebrated spring with tulips! The Pella Tulip Festival is<br />

one of the Top 100 events in the country and you can<br />

experience it firsthand on our Pella Tulip Festival <strong>Tour</strong>.<br />

DAY 1 | Boone & Scenic Railroad/Mamie<br />

Eisenhower Birthplace (L)<br />

Get ready for a fun day of “railroading”. Experience<br />

first-class service as it was during the golden age of rail<br />

travel when you dine aboard the historic Boone and<br />

Scenic Valley Railroad. Travel through the Des Moines<br />

River Valley, cross over the famous Kate Shelley<br />

Bridge, and relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.<br />

Mamie Doud Eisenhower’s birthplace provides a<br />

unique historical and educational look into the past. In<br />

addition to her home and library, you will see exhibits<br />

including many of Mamie’s awards, photographs,<br />

dresses, campaign items, and other memorabilia.<br />

Also visit the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum and<br />

History Center. This new 9,000 square foot facility<br />

features a large research library and an impressive<br />

collections of railroad memorabilia. Overnight (2) Des<br />

DAY 2 | It’s Tulip Time! (B, L)<br />

Spend all day at the Pella Tulip Festival starting with<br />

the beautiful sunken gardens. Enjoy free time in the<br />

square before savoring a Dutch lunch. Then take your<br />

reserved seat for the Midwest’s most colorful event-the<br />

Pella Tulip Parade. Complete with street scrubbers, the<br />

baby carriage parade, floats and local bands, this<br />

event is the best in the Midwest. (Please note exact<br />

tulip blooming is subject to nature and cannot be<br />

guaranteed).<br />

DAY 3 | Madison Country Memories <strong>Tour</strong>/John<br />

Wayne Birthplace and Museum/Travel Home (B)<br />

This morning take a stroll down memory lane in<br />

Madison County, IA. Your first stop is Howell’s Dried<br />

Flowers and Greenhouse. It’s where the rainbow<br />

begins; their giant barn is filled with flowers being<br />

naturally air-dried in addition to beautiful hanging<br />

baskets and gifts galore! Then take a storybook<br />

covered bridges tour in Winterset, IA. See many of the<br />

sites used in the movie “Bridges of Madison County”.<br />

Visit John Wayne’s birthplace and museum for an<br />

inside look at America’s favorite cowboy. Then it’s time<br />

to head home after a colorful trip to Pella, IA.<br />
