"Seeing these people who have dedicated their whole lives, in fact generations, to the<br />
practice <strong>of</strong> ceramics, made me reflect on my own inadequacies and deepen my respect to those<br />
around me who engage with more traditional ceramics skills."<br />
Drawing peer inspiration from visual and performing artists more than from ceramics contemporaries<br />
has meant her approach is unique yet respectful <strong>of</strong> the craft. "Sometimes it is like talking to the clay,<br />
but sometimes it seems the clay talks to me. Either way I have found that while the stories my work told<br />
in Ngapartji Ngapartji are different to my label and private work, they sum up the same ideas central to<br />
my art. If not, I would be lost for words."<br />
