<strong>Ceramics</strong> Competitions<br />

current with worldwide trends. Despite this<br />
exposure though, distance and high freight cost<br />
to larger centres and capital cities mean few<br />
regional artists display and compete in formal<br />
exhibitions.<br />
Although organising and conducting<br />
exhibitions with national reach represents a<br />
significant amount <strong>of</strong> hard (and generally unpaid)<br />
work, the Cairns Potters Club feels that it is<br />
integral to maintaining Far Ndrth Queensland's<br />
vibrant and talented group <strong>of</strong> ceramicists.<br />
Equally, other pr<strong>of</strong>essional ceramicists are given<br />
the opportunity to share their works w ith a new<br />
and appreciative audience. <strong>The</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> the<br />
exhibition is testament to the success <strong>of</strong> this idea.<br />
