Pushing Past the Limits<br />

With two young children and two jobs, Jose Ibarra didn’t have much time for himself. As a single<br />

dad, he struggled to find the energy to work two jobs during the week and on the weekend, and<br />

was always ready for bed the minute he put his kids to sleep. In the summer of 2015, his friend<br />

Stephanie suggested he try Spark® to help with his energy, because he wanted to cut back on the<br />

two to three high-sugar energy drinks he was drinking every day.*<br />

Jose found ways to apply the Daily Guide to his lifestyle by adding lime to his water so he could<br />

stay hydrated and meal prepping every day. He packed hard-boiled eggs and plain almonds for<br />

snacks so he wouldn’t make bad decisions at work.<br />

After four months of sticking to a meal plan, eating small meals multiple times a day and going<br />

to his local CrossFit® gym twice a week, Jose lost 38 pounds and had more energy than he knew<br />

what to do with.<br />

“It got to the point where I was wearing my kids out at the park!” he says.<br />

He steadily increased his time at the gym and nine months into his journey, signed up for his first<br />

5K just to see if he could do it.<br />

Today, he has run multiple 5Ks and is training for a 10-mile race. He also recently hiked Mount<br />

McLoughlin, which has an elevation of nearly 9,500 feet, to see how far he’s come.<br />

Jose says, “Prior to AdvoCare, if I had attempted hiking Mount McLoughlin, there would not have<br />

been enough time in the day to finish.”<br />
