To My Students!
I decided to use a different
medium, since my videos never
worked!
When you first arrived, you were
so confused and lonely. I
understand how you felt because I
was once In your shoes spending a
year In the States.
Watching you grow and change
over this year confirmed my
expectations of being your
Madricha. The One Year Program
gave you a little taste of Israel, and
I hope that you will spend more
significant time here!
Good luck next year and whenever
you’re in Israel again- you’d better
call mel
To the Student Committee!
Through all of the hassles and
problems of this year, I really
enjoyed working with all of you.
Your enthusiasm and dedication
really made the Student Committee
something special; the parties, the
newspaper, the sports events and
this yearbook are all products of
your success.
Good luck next year and I hope to
see you all in Israel againl
Dear Friends,
Any attempt to express my
feelings or to summarize this past
year In a few sentences will not be
good enough, 80 I’m not even going
to try. For those of you who think
about staying here - you are headed
for some difficult times and you are
going to need all of the help that
you can get. And for those of you
who are going back to the States
and might come here one day for a
visit with U.J.A. or Hadassa and
want to keep an authentic
primitive Israeli native as a friend,
here is my address:
It was a pleasure working with
you. I think that you did some
great things during this year and I
know that you have worked hard
(at least some of you - for some of
the time). I'm sure that your
voters appreciate it. I hope that
America, Canada, and India (as
well as Israel) will benefit from
your professional and fruitful
experience as high officials.
Love you all,
Once upon a time, In a far away
country, there lived a Rabbi. A
very clever Rabbi. You might say
that every Rabbi is clever, but this
Rabbi possessed a unique power,
special to him that no one else had,
no one else had ever heard of - he
was able to see objects through
matter.
Most people made good use of the
Rabbi’s special talent. Some didn’t.
One of those was a man who
decided to outsmart the Rabbi. He
decided to approach the Rabbi with
a butterfly held In his hands.
When the Rabbi would say that it’s
a butterfly he would smile but
continue to ask. Tell me Rabbi, 18
it dead or alive?'. If the answer
would be *dead', the man would
then let the butterfly go. If the
answer would be *alive', he would
squash the butterfly.
As the man expected, the Rabbi
answered his question without
hesitation - you are holding a
butterfly. Tell me Rabbi, is It dead
or alive?' The Rabbi put his hands
on the man’s fist and looked deep
into his eyes. Well my son, the
answer to that Is In your hands...
You are now standing at the end
of a period of time spent In Israel,
the land of the Jewish people.
During this time you had the
opportunity to see it's people and
sites, hear the variety of opinions
expressed In and about it and feel
it's very existence. I hope that you
will be able to take all of this with
you and make good use of all you
have experienced because like the
Rabbi said, it's in your hands.
