Sacagawea is the Shoshone Indian guide who appeared on the scene of
history in 1804 to assist Lewis and Clark on their momentous expedition
west. The Sacagawea Dollar was introduced in 2000 as the new circulating
dollar coin of the United States of America. These coins have a copper
core clad by manganese brass, giving them a distinctive golden color.

Minted from 1979 to 1981, and again in 1999, Susan B’s depict women’s suffrage
campaigner Susan B. Anthony. It was the first circulating U.S. coin with
the portrait of an actual woman rather than an allegorical female figure such
as ‘Liberty’. The reverse depicts an eagle flying above the moon (with the
Earth in the background), a design adapted from the Apollo 11 mission insignia
that was also present on the previously issued Eisenhower Dollar.

Dwight D Eisenhower and the first landing of a man on the moon. This
was the last dollar coin to contain a proportional amount of base metal to
low denomination coins; it has the same amount of copper-nickel as two
Kennedy half dollars, four Washington quarters, or ten Roosevelt dimes.

Minted intermittently from 1878 to 1921, the Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most
collected coins in the hobby! It’s big (one and a half inches in diameter), and made of
90% silver. The coin is named after its designer George T. Morgan, and his initial M is
found at the end of the neck of the portrait Lady Liberty on the obverse of the coin.
