At present there are two types of waterproofing systems, liquid and carpet membranes. In Malta the traditional bitumen carpet membrane is still considered a solution by some. They are light in weight compared to other materials and can become stronger when they are reinforced with fibreglass type matt 225. Resin membranes also help to reduce heat intake due to their ability to reflect natural radiation and low heat absorption properties.
