Printed photos that talk
Snapshot is excited to be able to offer the
LIVE PORTRAIT service which is a complete
solution for bringing printed images to life.
This technology takes a
photograph, logo, artwork
or any type of
graphic and links it to a short
video.
When the viewer uses the
free Live Portrait App to scan
the still image, the linked video
plays on the viewer’s Smartphone,
creating a powerful interactive
experience.
Originally created to bring
school photos to life the service
is offered through photo
labs in the USA including an
international network of independent
photo stores of which
Snapshot is a member.
Businesses were quick to
see the huge potential in bringing
a printed photo to life.
Printed promotional material
and signs like adverts,
newsletters, real estate signs
and retail displays for example
could be much more exciting if
they could come to life.
Imagine talking business
cards, talking adverts, or even
singing Christmas cards.
There are two ingredients to
a Live Portrait - a photo and a
video which will be “paired.”
The videos can be between
20 seconds and of 2 minutes
long: the shorter they are, the
faster they will load for mobile
users.
Take these to Snapshot who
will upload them via their portal.
There is a one off fee for
the upload of a pair which includes
unlimited scans of the
photo by viewers for 3 years.
How many times and where
the photo is placed does not
affect the cost.
The content you pair with
a photo is entirely up to you -
the video could contain your
Christmas message, a tour
through a home for sale, a
product video, your “elevator
pitch”, a photo slideshow, your
portfolio, etc
Anyone who views your
enabled image will need the
“Live Portrait” app in order to
see the video - this free app is
available from the App Store
Try it: Download the “Live Portrait” app and scan this photo.
or Google Play but you will
need to provide instructions for
the viewer.
When the app launches,
the camera in the Smartphone
turns on then the phone is held
over the photo to scan it.
Once scanning of the photo
is complete the video will
begin to play in augmented
reality over the scanned photo.
Live Portrait recently added
the ability to add numerous
call to action buttons such as
taking the viewer to your web
page or Facebook page.
