LOCAL EDUCATION CHARITY SEEKS A CLERK.
Hamond Educational Charity (charity no 277789) is
a long established charity that has been supporting
education and training in the Breckland area (with a
special focus on Swaffham) for many years by way of
grants and bursaries to young persons. It also supports
local schools and academies and other bodies involved
in the social and physical training of young people
locally. The trustees meet 2 to 3 times a year to
consider grant applications, to review investments and
to conduct other essential business. The applicant may
expect to apply some 20 hours annually to the role. The
clerk’s duties primarily will be to:
Swaffham & Litcham Home Hospice Support
On behalf of your Hospice editor, a slight glitch
occurred which prevented last month’s article
being printed, to which I apologise profusely.
Quite rightly we should start with a huge thank
you to Peter Harris and his epic undertaking
in walking 136 miles in aid of the Hospice and
Rugby Club. Peter averaged eighteen miles a
day and with the help of voluntary drivers was
delivered and picked up each day, completing
his walk in eight days. He started from the Rugby
Club and took in the Peddars Way to Holme next
the Sea, along the Coastal Path finally joining
the Weavers Way near Felbrigg and ending
at the Britannia Pier, Great Yarmouth. Peter
raised a total of £1,500.00, which was divided
between the two Organisations. This is a
phenomenal amount and we must congratulate
Peter in completing this mammoth event and
importantly all those who came forward to
support him with their donations.
The race Night in September organised by The
Rotary, The Lions and Home Hospice raised a
grand total of £1,500.00, each of them receiving
£500.00.
The Concert of Choirs staged in the Assembly
Rooms with The Marham Bluebirds and
the King’s Lynn Male Voice Choir, who were
accompanied in one of their songs by the
talented local girl, Amber Battem. Singing to a
very appreciative audience the evening proved
to be an enormous success for the Charity,
raising a total of £1.200.00. Thanks must be
directed to those who organised the evening.
Once again one of our supporters Julia Willis
along with her family and friends staged a
Craft Fair at her home, and raised £230.65. The
Home Hospice pass on their thanks to all those
involved over the two days that the event was
held, well done. If you would like to organise
an event for us we will always assist you with
advice. Just give us a ring on 01760 722937
where one of the office staff will be only too
happy to answers any queries you may have.
The annual Charity’s Raffle which is held leading
up to the festive period was staged in the Town
and Tesco culminating in it being drawn at the
Store. We are once again indebted to you all
for purchasing tickets in support of our work
and early figures indicate we are on course
to match last year’s total. The total will be in
February’s edition of the Newsletter We would
like to take this opportunity in thanking Tesco
27
and their staff for their continual commitment
in allowing us to sell tickets within the Store.
We are once again represented with the
Charity’s Christmas tree in St Peter St Paul
Church, Festival of Trees. The ever popular
event has witnessed many visitors enjoying the
spectacular show that Organisations put up
during the course of a week. Our ever popular
Quiz is being staged on March 2nd at the
Conservative Club, 7.30pm start with teams of
up to 6 people at £5.00 per head. For further
information please contact Adrian Adcock on
01760 724304 or adrian.adcock@talktalk.net
to enter a team.
The Fundraising Committee of the Charity is in
the early stages of planning a major event next
year; in fact June has been earmarked. We hope
to announce what this entails in the New Year.
‘Have you ever thought of volunteering? Do you
have some free time? If so we are looking for
volunteer drivers, to take patients to hospital
appointments or small trips. If you would like to
find out how you may be able to help, give Wendy
a call on 01760 336645. Why not visit our website
www.swaffhamandlitchamhomehospice.co.uk
for further information.
Our Coordinator, Wendy Martin, Staff and
Volunteers wish to thank all their supporters for
their continual monetary support during 2017.
We look forward to another year in carrying
out the work we so passionately do, but rely
on your generous donations in allowing us to
continue.
Finally, a Prosperous New Year to you all.
