POWER HITTERS CAMP • Ages 10-17<br />

(Green Ball 1, 2 and Yellow Ball 1)<br />

Junior and adult racquets - 36” high net and 78’ courts<br />

9 am-Noon (half-day AM), 1-4 pm (half-day PM) or 9 am-4 pm (full-day)<br />

Weekly, June 11-August 24 (no camp July 4)<br />

This fun camp works on focus, simple goal-setting, self-motivation,<br />

confidence, learning to make decisions, developing self-reliance and<br />

understanding winning and losing. Children are introduced to:<br />

• Handling a racquet, forehand and backhand (stance grip, shape of shot, types of spin)<br />

• Developing understanding of pace and spin on ball flight<br />

• Serve (grip, stance, arm action, rhythm, contact, rotation, types of spin)<br />

• Service returns (change of direction)<br />

• Approach shot to volley and overhead<br />

• Learning to compete against other players<br />

• Learning about tennis (court etiquette)<br />

• Helping other players in the group and sharing<br />

• Working with a coach and playing at home<br />

Includes swim and special events. No prior tennis experience necessary.<br />

This is an ideal way to stay sharp during the summer for experience players<br />

and tourament-levelt juniors. Mornings are dedicated to skill development,<br />

live-ball drills and agility/conditioning. Afternoons feature singles/doubles<br />

strategies, match play and recreational swim time. Our experienced pro staff<br />

has a passion for teaching, and a gift for helping you take your game to the<br />

next level. <strong>Camp</strong>ers must have permission from the Tennis Department to enroll.<br />
