Malaysia is undergoing a rapid OlderPersons(2011).PEACEisafive-package<br />
demographictransition.By2030,olderadultswil program which aims at:1)advancing EAN<br />

factorsthatoccuratmultiplelevels.Theseinclude<br />
individual,microsystem (eg:family),exosystem<br />
levels.Thepartnershipinvolves:1)publichealth<br />
practitioners(researchers,epidemiologistsand<br />
(eg:socialenvironment,extendedrelatives)and biostatisticians); 2) healthcare providers<br />
macrosystem (eg:culture,public policy,law). (primary care physicians,geriatricians and<br />

measuresneedtoaddresseachlevelorsystem<br />
accordingly.This is possible only through an<br />
interdisciplinaryapproach.<br />
The Prevent ElderAbuse and negleCt<br />
initiativE (PEACE)beganinearly2014,inline<br />
withthevisionoftheNationalHealthPolicyfor<br />
OlderPersons(2008)andNationalPolicyfor<br />
nurses);3)legalexpertsandlawyers;4)state<br />
healthdepartments;5)DepartmentofSocial<br />
Welfare;6)community-basedorganizations;7)<br />
policy-makers and; 8) media outlets and<br />
journalists.NegeriSembilanwaschosenforthe<br />
pilot phase, and programmes are being<br />
gradualyexpandedtootherstates.<br />
