lesson to learn about Sumner<br />
Beach’s sand dunes.<br />
Dunes are created by the<br />
sand that blows down the<br />
beach from onshore winds.<br />
Sand dunes protect from<br />
the sand that comes flying<br />
out of the beach and into the<br />
streets, by catching it. Pupils<br />
found out about why they<br />
are important and how they<br />
can be protected.<br />
They learnt that sand<br />
dunes are an important part<br />
of the beach for people, native<br />
trees, and the animals<br />
that live in them.<br />

From chickenss to calfs,<br />
pupils brought their family pet<br />
to school to raise money for<br />
SPCA.<br />
The school raised about $300<br />
which went to the animal welfare<br />
organisation.<br />
They also collected a box full<br />
of items to help the SPCA look<br />
after their animals.<br />
Fern, who also took her pony<br />
Chocolate along, raised money<br />
selling pony manure at the<br />
school gate.<br />
