Tonight’s concert at the International Akaroa Music Festival
promises to be one of the festival highlights. Some of New
Zealand’s finest Baroque musicians present a ‘Water Music’
programme of works by Handel, Vivaldi, Bach and Telemann,
7pm at the Gaiety Hall. Tomorrow night the festival orchestra
play music by C.P.E. Bach, Schumann, Monteverdi and
Mozart, 7pm at the Gaiety Hall. Spend a delightful summer
Friday evening with Italian flautist Luca Manghi and German
bassoonist Leni Maeckle performing Vivaldi’s La note
concerto, St Peters Church, 7pm. And on Saturday evening
star Australian oboist Celia Craig and Canterbury bassoonist
Selena Orwin present a ‘Woodwind Extravaganza’ at the
Gaiety Hall, 6pm.

Matecito Latin play most of
the Latin rhythms specialising

Portuguese, Italian and their native
Spanish, the band has been
together for 17 years so expect a
slick performance. These events
are popular, so make sure you
arrive early for a decent seat.
