17 quad, B final, 2; under 18 double, B final, 2; under 16 double, D final. It was a successful<br />

Forging friendships at youth ball<br />

PURPLE BALLOONS festooned the<br />

New Brighton Club recently as 160<br />

young people came together for the<br />

inaugural Eastside Rangatahi Youth<br />

Ball.<br />

The event was organised to<br />

strengthen networks and build new<br />

friendships amongst people from<br />

youth agencies across east Christchurch<br />

Ballgoers enjoyed a three course<br />

dinner, photo-booth, DJ and games.<br />

City councillors David East and<br />

Glenn Livingstone spoke about their<br />

visions for the east of Christchurch,<br />

and the upcoming developments in<br />

their community.<br />

Manager at Youth Alive Trust which<br />

helped organise the event said he<br />

hoped events like these would create<br />

“positive memories of what it was<br />

like to grow up in post-earthquake<br />

Christchurch.”<br />
