Father hands over
business reins
Local operators, Len and Cameron
Holland, have formally ended their
seventeen year business partnership.
In March this year, Len decided to take a
back seat and hand the reins over to his son
Cameron, to take the business forward into
the future.
Len has not gone into total retirement.
He will still be seen tinkering and working
on some old classics while the weight of
business responsibility is now in the hands
of Cameron who is enthusiastic about
taking Hollands Collision
Centre into the future.
Cameron is already
looking to further business
expansion so the business
grows as Rolleston and its
surrounding areas also
increase in size.
Drawings are currently
on Cameron’s desk for
the construction of a new
panel shop, just across the
road from their existing
operation which also has
changes occurring. This
includes a brand new
spray booth currently
being built in Italy and due
to arrive at the Rolleston
shop in early December.
This new spray booth will allow the
business to use water borne paints which are
not chemically enhanced with isocyanates.
“The water borne paints are much better
for the environment and therefore our
future,” adds Cameron who is enthusiastic
about this new development in his business.
“If using a water borne paint you need
a really good booth which will extract the
moisture out of the paint. This also helps the
paint on the vehicles to
dry as they are blow
dried rather than
heater dried.”
In addition to
new plant and a new
building, Cameron is
always keen to train up
new recruits with three
apprentices currently
learning the trade at
Hollands Collision
Centre. Cameron is
also keen to take on
another apprentice in
the near future.

having completed close to, or over 10
years work with the company. He has also
recently promoted two of his employees
to supervisory roles: Jake Ackers as Panel
Shop Foreman and Shane Olive as Paint
Shop Foreman This will allow more
efficient management of the workers so
customers jobs are turned around quickly.
“I’m really keen to keep up with
current and future demand so that we are
always meeting the needs of the people
of Rolleston and those further afield,”
explains Cameron.
Hollands Collision Centre is a
registered repairer for all major insurers.
They will also pick up and deliver a
vehicle and have loan vehicles available
so you need not be stuck without
wheels.
Cameron is very appreciative of the
support he has received over the years.
This includes from the New Zealand
Army for whom he is contracted
to complete refinish work on their
Pinzgauers, Mercedes trucks and fleet
vehicles, the Selwyn District Council,
and all the Rolly locals and others who
utilise his services.
