WHO IS Glenn Delaney?
The new Canterbury rugby
coach, of course. And on pages
13 and 14 reporter Bridget Rutherford
talks to him in our
regular Our People environment.
A former newspaper colleague
of mine Jimmy Doyle thought
Bridget did a pretty good job
profiling Razor Robertson a few
months ago.
Bridget was put on the case
again this week to profile Robertson’s
successor, and I’m sure
Doyley will agree she’s done
another top job.
Delaney had a close run thing
with the Ranfurly Shield against
Otago but in true Canterbury
style he was never that worried
the shield was going south. For
us Cantabrians it’s all about
planning and having a never say
die attitude.
Delaney has good rugby roots
– he cut his teeth for Linwood,
probably at Linfield Park, a complex
I helped raise money for as
a kid with runathons during my
not so stunning time in a green
and black jersey.
So Doyley, I hope you enjoy
Bridget’s read. – Barry Clarke
WALKIES ON WHEELS
A little dog in a pram is
capturing hearts everywhere
she goes in Rolleston. Gemma
the cairn terrier loves her daily
walks and hates to be left at
home. When she was diagnosed
with immune-mediated
hemolytic anemia, which makes
her tire easily, her owner Sue
Smit decided to take her for
walks in a pram instead. Each
morning they walk along Goulds
Rd.
