LONG-serving station
officer Alister Brown has
been recognised for 25 years
service to the Coalgate
Volunteer Fire Brigade.
He was recognised at an
award ceremony at the
Glentunnel Community
Centre recently.
Only four per cent of
firefighters throughout the
country achieve this medal.
More than 130 people
turned out for the event.
Senior station officer Phillip
Shaw said it was a good
evening with people coming
to recognise Mr Brown’s
gold star award.
“We held other awards but
he was the centre of attention
of course,” he said.
The United Fire Brigade
Association awards were
presented by United Fire
Brigades Association past
president Chris Price.
Long service, good conduct
medals and clasps were
presented by assistant area
manager Steve Butler.
Presentations were also
made by the Canterbury
Provincial Fire Brigade
Association president
