Rolleston College top achievers
Rolleston College has celebrated the success of its
students at its first school prize-giving
Awards:
•Hayley Hanson –
Rolleston College Horoeka
Haemata netball official of
the year.
Hayley umpired for the
college on Saturdays and
achieved both her level
1 and level 2 practical
umpiring exams. She made
herself available for extra
games when other umpires
were unable to attend.
•Olivia Kempton –
Rolleston College Horoeka
Haemata junior netballer of
the year.
Olivia was part of both
Wednesday and Saturday
teams and the South
Island secondary schools
tournament team.
•Year 9 netball –

24/7 Youth Community Cup
2017.
This award is for service
and contribution in arts,
sport, whanau and events.
Students who have
excelled with initiative and
endorsed the Rolleston
spirit were nominated for
this cup by staff.
•Alessandra Ward –
Horoeka Haemata Wero
Award Ngahuru. Alessandra
is the ‘Ngahuru learner of
the year’.
She has been a key
member of the school
debating team and
represented the college
in the Christchurch
competition.
Alessandra is a whanau
ambassador. She was
always reliable and her
ability to schedule has
meant she has never
missed a deadline or a
commitment.
•Ella Jarvis – Horoeka
Haemata Wero Award
Hotoke.
Ella is the ‘Hotoke learner
of the year’. She always
thinks of others before
herself.
Always willing to give
her time, she has been an
ambassador for tour visits,
hosted West Rolleston
senior school, led several
Hotoke celebrations and
was a speaker at learning
celebrations.
Ella has developed her
bi-cultural understanding
through her hangi quest,
alongside her contribution
to the Maori language week
hui.
