Rolleston College top achievers<br />

Rolleston College has celebrated the success of its<br />

students at its first school prize-giving<br />

Awards:<br />

•Hayley Hanson –<br />

Rolleston College Horoeka<br />

Haemata netball official of<br />

the year.<br />

Hayley umpired for the<br />

college on Saturdays and<br />

achieved both her level<br />

1 and level 2 practical<br />

umpiring exams. She made<br />

herself available for extra<br />

games when other umpires<br />

were unable to attend.<br />

•Olivia Kempton –<br />

Rolleston College Horoeka<br />

Haemata junior netballer of<br />

the year.<br />

Olivia was part of both<br />

Wednesday and Saturday<br />

teams and the South<br />

Island secondary schools<br />

tournament team.<br />

•Year 9 netball –<br />

College Horoeka Haemata<br />

24/7 Youth Community Cup<br />

2017.<br />

This award is for service<br />

and contribution in arts,<br />

sport, whanau and events.<br />

Students who have<br />

excelled with initiative and<br />

endorsed the Rolleston<br />

spirit were nominated for<br />

this cup by staff.<br />

•Alessandra Ward –<br />

Horoeka Haemata Wero<br />

Award Ngahuru. Alessandra<br />

is the ‘Ngahuru learner of<br />

the year’.<br />

She has been a key<br />

member of the school<br />

debating team and<br />

represented the college<br />

in the Christchurch<br />

competition.<br />

Alessandra is a whanau<br />

ambassador. She was<br />

always reliable and her<br />

ability to schedule has<br />

meant she has never<br />

missed a deadline or a<br />

commitment.<br />

•Ella Jarvis – Horoeka<br />

Haemata Wero Award<br />

Hotoke.<br />

Ella is the ‘Hotoke learner<br />

of the year’. She always<br />

thinks of others before<br />

herself.<br />

Always willing to give<br />

her time, she has been an<br />

ambassador for tour visits,<br />

hosted West Rolleston<br />

senior school, led several<br />

Hotoke celebrations and<br />

was a speaker at learning<br />

celebrations.<br />

Ella has developed her<br />

bi-cultural understanding<br />

through her hangi quest,<br />

alongside her contribution<br />

to the Maori language week<br />

hui.<br />
